If you cannot find the Upgrade in your Update Manager, then try to press Alt + F2 to get an Update Manager complete with the 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot upgrade. My Update Manager for Natty Narwhal did not have an upgrade for the Ocelot.
Upgrading from Natty Narwhal, 11.04 to Oneiric Ocelot, 11.10.
If your Update Manager does not show that your Narwhal needs an upgrade to Oneiric Ocelot, then press Alt + F2 and type “update-manager -d” in the command line.
Your Update Manager should indicate that an Oneiric Ocelot upgrade is available for download and installation.
