The popular online music streaming service Grooveshark was once thrown out of Apple iTunes App store and Google Android Marketplace by respective owners. Later it was made available on third-party Cydia iOS app store and as .apk Android app download on Grooveshark website. Now even when the case against them is in court pending hearing, Grooveshark is kinda in a resurrecting mode. To ease out things for its long time fans and loyal users they are introducing a HTML5 based web app.

Head over to html5.grooveshark.com from where you can stream music on native iOS, Android browser apps and any other modern mobile browser supporting HTML5. That means with the stock Safari browser on non jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad or with native Android browser you can stream Grooveshark music without the need of their native app. The web player is basically a less featured version of their official native mobile apps. Grooveshark web app supports searching music, tune to radio stations and popular songs streaming. In this app you won’t find any controls and your personal account or playlists can’t be accessed. Click on any song to start playing and slide down on lists to load more songs. It can also be minimized to stream in the background while you open other apps.

This official Grooveshark HTML5 web app can be considered as an alternative to iOS and Android apps available out there. Being a web browser-based player you don’t have to jailbreak your iOS device or install third-party apps on Android phones. Way to go.
