MegaUpload, the popular file hosting and sharing website has been taken down by federal prosecutors on request from the US authorities. MegaUpload been accused by the US Department of Justice of reproducing and distributing infringing copies of all types of copyrighted works, including movies, music, software and books. In fact it is one among the top 100 sites that allowed its users upload anything and everything of their computers for sharing it online. Now that MegaUpload is offline many users are left alone with no other option but to opt for alternate cloud services out there. The matter of the fact is sites like MegaUpload are not only used to distribute pirate content but also used by many legitimate users to distribute their personal files. Note that the inactive files will be removed from their servers after a month time from the day of last activity. 3. Rapidshare

If you are in search of a true MegaUpload alternative then Rapidshare should be the one you should opt for. The simple reason that Rapidshare lets you create and upload large files makes it a right choice. But like HotFile and MegaUpload here too you will have to wait for sometime for the download link to appear. Switch to premium account (RapidPro) if you want to store file for a longer period with quick access to files without waiting time. Premium members also gets encrypted file transfer to and from Rapidshare servers and parallel downloads.
