The Tablet devices are the talk of the town now. The advent of Apple’s iPad started the Tablet war and it’s now raging high. Majority of the Tablets available runs on Google’s Android OS which is the same version that powers handhelds in market now. The main advantage of Android OS over Apple iOS is that former supports Adobe Flash which is a must have component for many businesses. Most of the companies on foreign soil are counting on the Indian market and introducing Tablet’s here in India. The Tablet market sure looks promising and the year 2011 will be a year of tablets with companies like Notion Ink, LG, Dell, Acer, MSI, ViewSonic etc are looking forward to launch Android Tablets soon. Hope the upcoming CES 2011 will fuel the already raging tablet war.
Here is a list of Android Tablets available officially here in India. By official we mean the Tablets that are made available by the respective companies and not the ones that are available through eBay. All these devices are running different versions of Android and are listed in no order.
1. Samsung Galaxy Tab
The Galaxy Tab is Samsung’s front-runner in Tablet arena. With a 7 inch form factor Samsung Galaxy Tab inherits TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors with a screen resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels. It’s powered by ARM Cortex A8 processor, 1 GHz processor backed by PowerVR SGX540 chip for rich graphics. Running on Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) it houses 16/32 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 3.15 MP back-facing camera with 2048×1536 pixels (autofocus, LED flash), 1.3 MP front-facing camera and 3.5 mm audio jack. The hardware supports Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi (b/g) and 3G networks with A-GPS navigation support.

2. OlivePad
The OlivePad V-T100 is Olive Telecom’s contribution to Indian Tablet market. With a 7 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with 800 X 400, WVGA resolution runs on Android Froyo 2.2. OlivePad is powered by ARM11 600MHz processor at the heart assisted by Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset. With inbuilt 512MB NAND Flash and microSD expandable up to 32GB with internal memory of 512MB. OlivePad sports a 3.5mm Audio jack, 3 Mega Pixel (Back Camera) and a VGA Camera (Front). The hardware supports Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 3G and GPS for navigation.

3. Huawei Smakit S7
The Huawei Smakit S7 Tablet is a 7 inch resistive touchscreen with a 800×480 pixel display. Huawei Smakit S7 has a Qualcomm SnapDragon ARM processor and runs on Android 2.2 Operating System. The Tablet supports 3G networks and WiFi(b/g). It also supports WCDMA/HSPA GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. The SmaKit S7 has 720p video and HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports when connected to the dock.

4. Infibeam Android Phi
The Android Phi is Infibeam’s Android version of Tablet PC available for sale in Infibeam store. Android Phi is a 7 inch tablet with TFT screen of resolution 800 x 400. The Infibeam Android Phi is powered by ARM9 600MHz with 256 MB RAM and 8G internal memory expandable upto 32 GB via Micro SD Card. Android Phi is running on Android 1.6. The hardware includes 2 Mini USB 2.0 with support for Wi-Fi but no 3G and Bluetooth hardware available.

5. Binatone Home Surf
The Binatone sports a 8 inch resistive screen powered by an ARM 11 667 MHz processor. With 128 MB RAM and 2G onboard memory it runs on the Android 1.6 Donut OS flavour. It also supports both Wi-Fi and 3G.
Available for Rs : 9000 approx.
6. Wespro ePad
The Wespro ePad is the Network 18 venture groups contribution to the growing Tablet market in India. The ePad consists of 7 Inch touch screen LCD running Google Andorid 1.9 OS. It’s powered by VIA WM8505 400MHz processor with 128MB RAM, 2GB Nand Flash internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB with TF Card. Wespro ePad supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g networks but no Bluetooth and 3G support.

I would say wait for first quarter of 2011 to get over. Many Tablet devices especially 7 inch ones in pipeline.

I have seen wespro epad OS as 2.2 froyo but here its OS is 1.9 please clarify bcoz i have decided to go for wespro epad of 2.2 froyo I am confused
