Install VLC Media Player in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal)

Without doubt VLC is one among the best media players available till date. Why because VLC can play almost all media file formats under the sun. Available on all major platforms including Linux, Windows and Mac OS, VLC can play all popular multimedia formats like MP4, WMV, H264, DivX, AAC and many others.

If you want to download and install VLC player in Ubuntu 11.04 add the PPA to repository by following the steps below.

Steps to install VLC player in Ubuntu 11.04 (Command Line):

1. Open the terminal and add PPA by executing the following command,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/vlc

2. Update and install VLC media player along with few other plugins,

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc mozilla-plugin-vlc vlc-plugin-pulse

3. Done.

after i followed your instructions my terminal showes the following problem, what might be the solution for me

Dear Binoy,

Can you suggest me a way to Install VLC player in a Live Bootable USB of Ubuntu 11.04 version
I tried the “persistent file” method but it didn’t work out and in most of the case when i tried it was saying there is no enough space on disk
Or else is it possible to copy and paste codec files in some folder in this USB there by when totem player search for the codec it can find automatically

m not able to install vlc. first 2 commands showed no problem but 3rd command of installing should d following error-
