Top 4G LTE Phones

With the advancements in technology we are now living in 4G wireless technology era. The 4G (fourth-generation) smartphones capable of handling high bandwidth with cool features are available now. To be frank 4G is more a marketing gimmick and carriers feel justified in using the 4G label because it lets the end-user know that he can expect significantly faster data speeds.

In fact what we actually have in town coined as 4G includes Long Term Evolution (LTE), HSPA (HSDPA & HSUPA) and HSPA+ smartphones counting on Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T’s high-speed networks. The LTE and HSPA+ are very high speed technology capable of data transfer upto 100/50 Mbps and 56/ 22 Mbps download/ upload speeds respectively. The HSPA (HSDPA & HSUPA) phones though not as fast as LTE and HSPA+ can clock speeds upto 14.4/ 5.76 Mbps.

The 4G phones available now are all running Google’s Android OS. And talking about the specifications all 4G phones are powered by powerful 1 GHz processor with 512 MB+ RAM which together with Android OS can do wonders. All 4G smartphones manufactures including Motorola, HTC, Samsung and LG do have something unique to offer.

Here is a list of best 4G Android phones grouped into two categories namely LTE and HSPA smartphones. The Motorola Droid Bionic, LG Revolution and HTC Thunderbolt 4G are LTE Android phones while Motorola Atrix 4G, LG Thrill 4G are HSPA smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S 4G alone falls into HSPA+ capable of very data speeds counting on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network.

LTE Smartphones:

1) Motorola Droid Bionic:
Motorola announced the powerful Motorola Droid Bionic smartphone at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. This handset runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS and it features a 1 GHz dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with HD (720p) video recording, 512 MB RAM, DLNA connectivity and more. This handset will be released in the Q2 of 2011.

2) LG Revolution:

LG announced the Android powered LG Revolution smartphone at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. This handset has not been released yet, but it will be exclusively available on the airwaves of Verizon in the US. LG Revolution is the first 4G LTE smartphone from LG. It is also the first 4G device to Offer Voice-Over-LTE.

HTC announced the much-awaited Thunderbolt 4G smartphone at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. Even this handset will be exclusively available on the airwaves of Verizon in the US. HTC Thunderbolt features a 4.3 inch WVGA display, 1 GHz CPU, 768 MB RAM, front-facing camera and much more. This handset is available for $249.99 with a 2-year contract. It includes free wireless hotspot capabilities until May 15.

Motorola announced the Android powered Motorola Atrix 4G at the CES 2011 in Last Vegas. This device runs on the 1 GHz dual core processor. It sports a 5 megapixel camera, Android Froyo OS, DLNA connectivity and more. This handset is available on the airwaves of AT&T in the US.
